Vintage 1920s sugarnips / tongs with unusual double hinged forceps style opening
These vintage sugar nips have an unusual design as they aredouble hinged and are opened by squeezing them in the middle like forceps. The ends of the nips each finish in 2 prongsjoined to form a v shape which makes it easier to grip a sugar cube. The tips of the tongs meet when closed. The tongs open easily with a smooth actionand make an interesting talking point with their novel design. They are approximately 4.5 inches long.
The sugar nips are engraved N.P.B. England and RD No. 702274;NPB being the abbreviation for Nickel Plated Brass. The Registered Design Number 702274 dates thenips to the 1920s.
