Offering for sale this guaranteed original and authentic
1932 Miami Digger Carnival Digger machine with wooden crate base.
This vintage gambling device is 100% operational - it is ideal for a collector/investor
as well as for a home gameroom environment as it operates dependably and
reliably in daily play.
The digger mechanism has been restored with a keen eye towards keeping it
period-original. The original chrome was
polished, the aluminum castings were buffed, and a new electric motor being
fitted. (The new motor was needed because the original motor was removed
at some point in the 50s - when the machines like these were banned by Federal
law and they were made unusable by having the motors removed).
The wooden cabinet retains its original paint and it looks
great. The old glass is still intact – having wavy lines and some
minor imperfections that add great character to the machine.
All wiring has been replaced to ensure safe operation of the
machine.
In addition to the crane - there is a retro shipping crate (rough built) - that
can serve as a display stand. The sale also includes printed copy of the
booklet "William Dana Bartlett's Miami Digger" - 40 pages of written
history about this digger that includes 13 photos and illustrations - produced
by Mr. James Roller.
The photos show the mechanism out of the case, the digger
fully assembled, and the wooden base. I
have also included a scan from a recently published coin-op book (Reel
Amusement by Tom Gustwiller) that shows a photo and description of a Miami
Digger. Note that the digger featured in
this book does not have the secondary (smaller) crane knob that allows for boom
positioning OR a wooden crate/base and gives pricing guidance of $2,500-$3,000.
Please watch the YouTube video to see the actual machine in action. This
is a great digger - especially since the user gets to control not only the
lateral movement of the crane but the up-down action of the boom. (Not
all Miami Digger machines have this feature).
Dimensions: Crate is about 26 1/2 wide X 22 deep X 36 high.
Machine itself measures 25 W X 19 D X 31 high.
The machine will ship inside the shipping crate and will be sent to a US buyer via
FedEx Air Freight for a cost of $165.
Local buyers in the Greater Los Angeles area are welcome to come inspect the
machine.
Please ask any and all questions prior to
placing a offer – the machine is sold as-is.
Review my recent response for similar vintage coin op machines – offer

Have a look at my other
sales – there are several nice examples of vending machines, trade
stimulators and other penny arcade coin op machines now and coming over the
next several weeks.

Note that the candy and toys shown in the video and photos are INCLUDED with the sale. Also - if you wish to configure the machine as a true NICKEL DIGGER - you can just remove the toys and load in the coins. There is no modification required to the crane or scoop. ** For added fun, you can even put in some 50c coins and some "gold dollar" coins -- they sound great when they drop down the chute!
