1915 Trio 10th Yorks + Lancs KIA 1/7/16 1st day of the Somme British Medals Description

A genuine full size WW1 1915 Star, War and Victory medal correctly named to 17150 PTE.J.LEACH.Y.&.L.R. The medals come with recorded envelope to his mother in Rishton and with the medal issue slip.

Comes with a wealth of research showing that he was killed in action on the 1/7/1916 (the 1st day of the somme). The CWGC + SD have him on the 3rd July but as you can see from the copy papers he was reported KIA on the 1st.

There are about 35 pages on ancestory showing him to be a very colourful character who was due to face 8 years of prison for being arrested so many times for different offences. The research also shows that his medals were sent to his wife by accident who lived in Great Harwood and then reclaimed and sent to his mother.

He was originally born in Britannia (Bacup) and enlisted in Pontefract. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
