I too am not sure why this site lists the Shih-tzu as being unsuitable for children. Mine is the most gentle, loving little animal and she loves children of all sizes and activity levels. She is my second Shih-tzu, and both dogs were fantastic with children.

I once had a dog who loved carrots so much, she would dig them up out of the garden, eat the carrot... but leave the greens on the lawn.

I have to disagree. My dog seems to recognize the difference between people and animals on the tv, even with the sound off.
   
Not only that, but she will ASK me to turn the tv on, she sits in front of the tv in my office, starting at it, and then bark, look back toward the tv... until I turn it on for her.
