Fire And Rescue Departments Receive Pet Oxygen Mask Donation
Petplan pet insurance has donated pet oxygen mask kits to 26 emergency responders across the country and others are being encouraged to apply for the remaining kits. The masks can be used on conscious pets that have suffered from smoke inhalation and on pets that need to be resuscitated after losing consciousness due to exposure to toxic fumes.
The donation is the result of a national campaign with Wag’N Enterprises to raise awareness of pet fire safety. Petplan launched their pet rescue window alert campaign in 2008 to help save more pets in emergencies. Their rescue alert is the only one that can be customized to feature a pet’s photo, name, and potential hiding spots to help expedite rescue. And recently Petplan joined forces with Wag’N to take their ongoing safety initiative one step further. For every 100 pet rescue alerts created through November 30th, Petplan pledged a Wag’N O2 Fur Life mask kit to an organization in need of this pet-saving equipment.
During the campaign, nearly 4,000 pet rescue alerts were created, yielding a donation of 40 pet oxygen kits. In time for the holidays, these kits will be sent to 26 police, fire and K9 unit departments in: California, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin. However, emergency responders in all states are encouraged to apply.
"Petplan is dedicated to the health and well-being of pets. We are thrilled to be able to assist pets, concerned pet owners, and fire and rescue departments nationwide," said Natasha Ashton, co-founder of Petplan pet insurance.
