So I have a 1 yr old shih tzu (female) and I’m aware that dogs clean their ears and then lick their paws but she cheaws her paw, she just sticks it in her mouth and chews, it’s not causing any problems in fact it’s kinda cute but I’m just wondering why she does this?? Any thoughts?

But it’s only one paw and she’s vet checked once or twice a year, I’ve looked over her paw after the first few times and she’s all good, is this maybe a shih tzu trait?

Allergies are a pain, and purebreds are the most vulnerable to genetic medical problems. If she’s chewing her feet, chances are its environmental, like something she walks on all the time. could be the grass outdoors, the carpet, upholstery cleaner, anything. Consult a vet if it gets bad though, there are treatments but its hard if its the general places she lives and walks that she’s reactive to.
