I need help. There is a very large dog down the street that was mating my small jack russell terrior, who is about 1.5 years old. I don’t know how old or what breed the large male dog was. It was about the size of a large retriever, but was not one. I don’t know if my terrior is pregnant yet. If she is pregnant what would happen to the puppies as well as her?

Please get her to the vet immediately. There is also a "morning after" shot that must be given within 72 hours — if it hasn’t already exceeded it.

Yes, the puppies could grow too large – she will probably need a C-section if they don’t kill her before.

The vet can spay her now-for the dogs sake-get it done. She is really to young to breed anyhow as that should never be done until after they are at least 2 years.

In general this wouldnt cause any major problems. The female is likely to ony have one or two pups though as she is quite young and the pups will be big. You would need to take her to the vet regulary in the last couple of weeks to make sure the pups dont grow too big for her as she would then need a c-section. Hope all works out well

So the puppies getting too big & she will probably need a C-section are not major problems?
