I just thought of something...it's possible there's an infestation of some kind in the tank. I don't know, as I haven't seen any pictures.

Have Friend call the local zoo or aquarium. Maybe they can help. Or a pet shop that specializes only in fish, lizards & water-based creatures.

Friend needs advice.

I feel like this is getting ridiculous. I asked for a picture of the two surviving "babies", but he won't take a picture because Titan, their MOTHER, not "caring father" as he likes to call "him", hisses when he goes near the tank.

I'll just call this off and say it's just a hilarious story, because he won't show me the babies and they'll die eventually anyway. But I will definitely tell him to keep Titan out of the tank with the others because, if she really did lay eggs (the first time I heard about this was when my friend said that she had eggs in her shell), it'll happen again.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. If anything else comes up I will definitely post. This guy is weird anyway so something new is bound to happen.

I was sure about the water-stage thing, so I looked it up. Sure enough, Hermit crabs start off in salt water, just after hatching. Without an ocean or a little Instant Ocean body of water, he couldn't have had functioning hermit crab babies.

And hermit crabs don't care at all, they LITERALLY toss the eggs into the water when they're ready to hatch & walk away. His hermit crab has other issues unconnected with parenthood.

God knows what's going on over there...
