Hi,

Well i have had a very sad passing of my girl guinea pig Petal she went on the 25th aged 29 months i was jsut wondeirng if anyone had any idears of the cause of death i know it is hard to tell without seeing her but i was wondering as i have read about many illnesses and she matches some but now all of the symptoms anyway,

She was fine gobbling down food and then on the 24th i saw she had dropped half her body wait!!! but she was eating and seemed happy purring away but i called the vet who told me to bring her inside (i had already done that) and to keep her warm and make sure she is not dehydrated they said she could have a cold but we where doing all the right things and if she was still ill to go in between 10-11 the next day.

Anyway she was eating away happly but not drinking so when i got the syringe out she went wild drinking and even stole it from me!!! but she would not drink out of her bottle or bowl (we tried both) yet she loved it when we where feeding her anyway i stayed up until late with her and woke up late the next day!! anyway we where told the price had gone sky high as it was out of hourse they told us we where doing everything right and the receptonist even said its to much money wait until tomrow anyway she had food supply and water but stopped eating but she seemed happy her family visted and she was very content but all day she was making a clicking sound when vreathing but she seemed happy then at 6.35 she started running aroudn em but i knew soemthing was wrong and she really ran then went floppy and before we could put her in the cage she dropped her head and passed on i am still very upset and the guinea pigs where all silent for 2 days she was such a big personalty in the shed.

Her symptoms where,

Wait loss,

Turned off of drinking/food on diffrent days,

Breathing very oddly.

Any idears on her cause of death she was so healthy before hand!

Thank you,

Ryan

I do not know what could have caused your pets death and I am truly sorry for your loss. Have you tried experts.com. There are small animal experts and consultations are free, you usually get an answer within a few days. Again I am sorry for your loss.
