Which pet do you think is good for me?

Hi, I'm new to this :)
   
Ok I'll tell u my story...
   
I have had 2 pets running in the past 4 years. I had a Hamster call Harry who had a very healthy life and a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately at the age of about 2 years 2 months he died of a coma (I'm not that great at spelling :S)He had a coma for 3 days, it was really scary but I couldn't do anything about it as he was old. Then I got a lovely gorgeous Chinchilla. He was a black velvet and we called him Toby as he previous owners hadn't properly decided on a name. We got him at the age of 2, He was originally a pet shop chinchilla, which wasn't our choice but we fell in love with him instantly. Also as it was the first chinchilla we had even seen, We had no experience. We had him for 2 years and we struggled quite a bit with him. He was hard to handle as his previous owners scared him as they chased him round his cage until he was caught and I found it difficult to handle. He was amazing inside his cage. Coming for treats and loving being itched under the chin and behind the ear. Also within 1 and a half year of owning him, he would sit on my hand (inside the cage) and eat oats. He was fed on Charlie Chinchilla food and not too keen on hay, infact he only played with it if we put in into a hayrack. He'd sit there and pull out all the hay and throw it round his cage, then when I put it back into his hayrack he'd start all over again. But after about 2 and a half years of owning him, he had a downfall. He starting dribbling and had eye problems. Then he started to eat less, but because we weren't experienced owners we didn't know what it was, I thought it was teeth problems but my mum didn't like the idea of taking him to the vet so we left him and bought more grinding items (chew toys). Then he completely didn't eat, so we were desperate to take him to the vet. We took him to the vet and it turned out he had a spur on his back tooth and it was piercing him at the roof of is mouth and making his mouth fulll of blood. So he had to have an operation and he soon came home with lots of medicine. We took loads of care and the first two days of syringe feeding him he was getting hugely better but the last day of medicine he had another downfall and still wasn't eating and we had to return him to the vet. Poor Toby didn't make it, his body just broke down after the operation, he got put down. I loved him so much, infact this story has got me into tears again, right this moment :'(
   
Anyway my problem is that I really want another pet, I dont want a hamster as the lifespan is really short and I'm not sure about a chinchilla as I dont want to go through this again. Although me and my mum are thinking about getting 2 baby chinchillas. I just want to know.. "Are teeth problems common?"
   
Basically I dont want a pet that:
   
*Takes up too much room
   
*Roams round the house (like a dog)
   
*is an outdoor pet
   
*Needs much vet attention
   
*is boring like a fish
   
*is a reptile (i'm a furry pet lover)
   
*is totally unsociable (preferibly one that likes to be held)

im sooo sorry about Toby. i almost cried jst reading it. if u haven't decided on a pet yet, I was thinking about a rabbit. u can get small or big rabbits. and they r very furry! rabbits r very hardy animals and rarely have to see a vet. they r sorta like chinchillas (chinchillas r part rabbit) but less...fragile.

Thanks for your help.. I nearly got a rabbit a while ago, butt I think in the end I'm am going to get a hamster because that was my mums idea because I already have a cage.. But thanks anyway :)
