Has anyone heard about the change in scientific name of the corn snake or red ratsnake, which scientific name was elaphe guttata guttata? Could you please tell me the new name and the reasons behind the change, and the other species of the family?

Apparently its now Pantherophis guttatus, but this hasn't been decided on by everyone and many still call it Elaphe guttata. I don't know why the name changed though - sorry!
