Personally i dont like to use things for my pets which i have found outside, just incase there are some parasites or toxins on them. I am not sure that the pine tree is not toxic to any snakes, but as a snake is not going to chew on it then if it is properly cleaned (not just a wash with some water and soap) then it MAY be fine. However personaly I would ask further into it before placing it in the tank. Maybe your vet could offer better advice.
