My horse lives outside (In Houston, Texas), there isnt a cover or anything. When I go to get him to ride, I will find him breathing simi-hard but, he is not sweating. But when I take him under the covered areana he start to sweat immediately. Is this normal? If not, is there anything I can do to help him sweat outside?

It sounds to me like he might have Anhidrosis. It is a disease that can come up suddenly. You need to watch our horse and when this happens, hose him off for at least fifteen minutes. And try to figure out someway to keep him out of the sun and the heat. I had a pony with it and I found that feeding her a supplement for her hooves really helped her. Good luck.

I'm not sure if it's Anhydrosis or not - that usually causes a horse to not sweat at all. We have a pony with this condition, and we keep her in the coolest stall, ensure she has plenty of water at all times, and don't overwork her. since she is unable to sweat, her body heat can get extremely high and could cause illness or death if not watched. I would get a vet to examine your horse and tell you if he has Anhydrosis or not. It is common in humid, southern areas, such as Texas.
