Thanks so much for your honest assessment. I'm not positive but it seems like most dogs are susceptible to gassiness and cancer at some time of their existance, doesn't it?! Anyway, that's not a deal breaker for me; after my Pharaoh ate certain foods I couldn't be in the same room as him! I haven't been looking on backpage.com after I was advised not to by a number of dog people around me; not because it's a bad site but just because there are so many opportunities for 'bad people' to take advantage of good people like us, and it's much more comforting to go to someone's house and meet them and their animals. You have all been so helpful; thanks again.

I don't know anything about backpage.com. doctorevil3232, but I can tell you here in Oklahoma, we have a real problem with puppy mills.Do you have that same problem where you're at? It's a really good idea to buy a puppy from someone you either know or is recommended by your vet instead of just going to a pet store. A lot of those puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills( I'm sure not all of them) and may be unhealthy. I'm sorry you lost your

ridgeback. It's so painful to loose a pet, isn't it? There is something else about Boxers you might want to consider: they have extremely powerful neck, shoulder, and chest muscles. They also have very powerful jaws and trying to pull something away from them is just about impossible. They need to be trained to not grab things. I hope you enjoy whatever breed you decide to go with.
