My beagle baby (who is about to turn 1 year!) has been doing the oddest thing lately. She has been rubbing her face on the ground (like putting her head on the grass or carpet and walking with her back legs to rub her face). At first, we thought it was her ears, so we bought some ear wash and took care of that. However, she is STILL scratching her cheeks and rubbing her face on the ground. The only thing we can think of now is that it is her gums or something. She is going to the vet this afternoon, but I was wondering if anyone has every heard of a dog having itchy gums before. We looked at her gums and they are pretty pink, a little darker where the gum meets the tooth. She gets her teeth cleaned once a month when she gets her bath at the groomer, so I didn't think gingivitis or anything would be a problem?! Has anyone ever seen a dog doing this??

My dog does this all the time, he also uses his claws to scratch and has cut his face. He is allergic to house dust mites and storage mites, he is on tablets to carm his reactions down but they dont work all that well, he is about 1 year old. Our vets say it is common for allergies to flair up at about a year of age, we are waiting for some injections to come at the beging of next month and he (my vet) will show me how to give him them (about every month or so).

I would have the vet check it out - could be an allergic reaction...
