Limping - Metacam not working!!

My dog hurt her leg about a month ago. I brought her to a vet who said nothing about it so i let it go until it persisted. When her limping got worse i took to her to a different vet who prescribed her metacam and said that the limping should stop...it's much worse...she's avoiding walking...extremely cautious getting down stairs and going up hills...i'm worried about her it seems pretty bad and this stuff is not working at all. Do you know of any other options?

Why did the vet prescribe metacam? What was his diagnosis? Has anyone taken x-rays? How old is your dog? This could be anything from a sprain strain to a torn ligament to bone cancer. You need to get to a vet and have more diagnotic procedures performed. If the metacam has not helped at all then it's probably more than a sprain/bruise.

she's a year, no ex rays were done and the metacam does not seem to be affective but i've been giving it to her in smaller amounts and only when she seems to be in significant paint - her limp has improved but is still noticeable and it takes very little for her to hurt it again...
