lab drinks water way to much

The best thing to do is to have him checked by your vet. One of the most common reasons for excessive drinking is diabetes. My last beagle drank a lot of water for quite a while and became blind before I found out he had diabetes. He required two shots of insulin a day at feeding time after that which he became used to pretty quickly.
