Running out of ideas - do not want to euthanize

My baby was attacked by an adult dog when he was about 7 weeks old. He was picked up and tossed which resulted in his pelvis being broken in 4 places. He was nursed back to excellent health with just a little limp.
His problem is not physical, it is mental. He seems to have night terrors and has bit me 3 times as I slept. He is a very anxious dog and hasn't taken to crate training.
He goes from being a sweet cuddler to psycho dog. I am the only person he ever bites. I continue to work on crate training but an worried about anxiety killing him.
Anyone who hears the story says to euthanize him but I just can't because I know that he is not intentionally doing this. He is so cute and joyful - until he falls asleep at night.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I do not want to lose the little guy. I tried Ceasar Milan's "relax" syrup and he won't eat anything I mix with it.

Talk to you vet about putting him on a medication like amitriptiline. It can reduce the anxiety enough so that the dog can relax and begin to respond to the love you are extending to him. Eventually, with much patience and training he will most likely be able to wean off the medication. Hope this info is helpful and I wish you the best of luck.
