Agility can improve and maintain a dogs fitness and reduce risks of some diseases caused by becoming obesise and lack of exercise. Before you start training your dog for any type of rigerouse exercise she/he should be checked over by a vet. Start slowly, and work with an experienced trainner and keep an eye on her for any signs that she/he is been over worked. I tryed my bull terrier type cross at agility to much amusement, now we just have a little play at such things as a bit of fun and take it slow, stopping as soon as he shows signs of having enough, to keep him happy and enjoying it. Not to mention its great at building the bond even more between you and your dog.

you should not start the dog on any agility until it is finished growing. Starting earlier can really cause damage to joints & bones.
