How to get started with Schutzhund

Hello,
   
I have recently adopted a 1 year old German Shepherd from a shelter. We are working on basic obedience, and will probably be starting with a few agility exercises, and everything is going great! But she is EXTREMELY energetic, and NEEDS a job! I originally wanted to do SAR with her, but unfortunately she's suspicious of strangers, which kind of disqualifies her for SAR work.
   
Many of her traits seem to be perfect for Schutzhund... does anyone have any tips on how to get started? Preliminary training exercises, any pre-protection work I can do before hiring an actual trainer?
   
Also, I've been having a LOT of trouble locating a Schutzhund trainer in my area (Canton CT... anywhere within 30-45 minutes would be an acceptable drive for me. Does anyone know of someone in the around here?). I have searched high and low on all the internet sites, in all the yellowpages, etc.

Schutzhund is an awesome sport and just doing something with your dog is wonderful. Here are some links I found for you to help
