How long does it take for Felis catus kittens to become independednt of their mother? I have a friend who has been taking care of a stray cat. She has given birth to a litter of kittens and they have just opened their eyes. She can only keep two of them and she was asking me to find out how long before it is safe to start getting rid of them. Thank you for your time.

The minimum is 8 weeks but 12 is preferable.
