My vet recommended using Terramycin applied to my kittens eyes to eliminate eye infections.
When I apply the gel from the tube, I place a "line" of gel from right to left across the eye.
The next day I notice that the gel has almost hardened into a paste!!! Sort of like glue!!! Sometimes I noticed that her eye lid is shut due to the gel drying!!!
In an effort to remove the hardened gel, I'll wet a clean white paper towel, with warm water, and gently apply the towel to her eye. This softens the gel, and my kitten is ready for the next application of the gel 12 hours latter.
Can anyone tell me why the Terramycin reacts this way??? That is, why does it harden to a glue like consistency? Am I using too much? Am I applying it wrong?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I wish I had the answer to that question! I too am having the same thing happen and its very frustrating because after I'm done trying to clean it off, its still there and my poor kitties eye seems to be irratated even more. Please if anyone knows how to remove that crust from their eyes and also their front paws please let us know!
