My 4 month old kitten has really bad ear mites, the last time I brought him the vet the vet gave me some drops to put in his ears daily and said to clean them regularly. It?s about 2 weeks later and his ears are still very bad, not to mention he?s starting to hate it when I touch him on his head because he always thinks I?m going to be cleaning them again.

I?m sure his ears will get better soon, I wasn?t sure how long it would take, but my main concern is that when I first adopted him his nose was really dirty, like all on the inside there was black stuff, at first I just thought that maybe where he was with the other kittys in the shelter was dirty but it keeps on coming back after I clean it out, I have to use a wet tissue to get it all out, it is very dried up so it doesn?t rub off easily. It?s not as bad as the first time, but I have to clean out his nose of this black stuff at least twice a day. To me it almost looks like he has ear mites in his nose, I don?t know if that?s possible though. When I had brought him to the vet it was clean because I had just cleaned his nose that morning, but I did explained it all to the vet, but the vet told me it was nothing and just shrugged it off, but I really feel like there should be something more I can do, and an explanation on what it is. Did anyone ever hear of ear mites in a cat?s nose? and if so is there anything I should do other then clean it off with a little water, do you think it will go away once his ear mites are fully cleared up from his ears? Or could it be something else entirely?

My other kitten luckily doesn?t have any ear mites and he doesn?t have any black stuff on his nose either, his ears were a little dirty when I adopted him, but I cleaned them and they are good now. So I?m also worried that if this doesn?t clear up fast on the one kitten that it will spread to my other kitten.

Any ideas on what I should do?

I would just like to add that its still persisting, I have an appointment with the vet on Saturday and I wont clean his nose that day so that vet can see it fully. Hopefully he'll say something more helpful then what he said last time....

Any suggestions would be appreciated though, also on the picture below you can kinda see the black stuff on his nose, if that?s any help.

Thanks!

What did your kitty's vet say the black stuff is? One of my cats has black stuff in her nose, too.
