My cat consantly squatts but barely pees!

Please help me, I really want and need to know if my cat is sick or not. He is constantly trying to pee everywhere around the house and we really want know if he has a serious infection or not. His brother just went to a cat hospital like company called Katies place. It is just like the SPCA but they dont put the cats down unless they seriously need to. The reason his brother just went was because he was really sick so we want to know if my cat will have to do the same. Please help!!

Veterinarian, now. This could be serious.
   
He could have a blocked urinary tract. It happens a lot with male cats; sometimes the minerals build up.
   
He needs to go to the vet & have tests done for this specific kind of problem.
   
If it's a urinary blockage, I honestly don't know what the treatment is these days, as it's probably come a long way in the last 20 years since one male cat I owned died of a urinary problem. I'm guessing there's drugs that dissolve the blockage; it's likely.
