My cat scoops dry food ino her water.

My cat has always been curious about water. She enjoys puddles on the porch and wet bathtubs and likes to put her paws in her water bowl. The most frustrating part of her love of water is that she insists on scooping her dried food into her water dish. We have a double bowl, one that has a bowl for food and one for water that's connected, but we've tried every other type of watering bowl. If the bowl is not connected to her food bowl, she can't put food in it, but she will tip it over. She's always been like this. I am concerned that she's not getting enough water because after she mucks it up she won't drink from it. She's very smart and knows she's not supposed to do this. If we catch her we yell "no" and she hurries away. But as soon as we leave, we come back and her water is full of dry food.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Does she eat the food after she throws it in the water? If so, she may like moist food & adding a little canned food to her kibble may break her of the habit.
If she's not eating it, then she's playing & just likes to see things float around.
Suggestion:
Get a bowl with a weighted base & sloped sides that's tip-proof. Pet stores have stainless steel bowls with rubber bottoms & sloped sides; check the dog dish section, they're larger & heavier & the cat may not be able to move it.
Use the weighted bowl for water & put it far from the double food dish, out of the view of each other, so that when she's at one dish, she can't see the other.
In the double dish, put her food in one side & an inch or less of water in the other dish. This will help control the mess she'll make by knocking her food into the water. It will allow her to play without messing up her drinking water.
