Hello. My cat is not well. She is 17 years old and thus a very important member of the family. She has stopped eating and won't even acknowledge her meal if i put it in front of her. I can see that she is week and she needs food but it's like she just refuses to eat. She last ate on Sunday. Today is Wednesday and i only managed to get her to drink a little bit of milk. She is usually very active, but now she sleeps all day and sometimes she doesn't even move for hours. I am really worried about her. Please help...

Buy some geriatric canned food and kitten food. Get a wide mouth syringe or dropper and water down the canned fooda little. Enough to be able to suck it up with the dropper or syringe. You will have to cradle your cat in a gentle football hold unless someone is helping you offer the syringe of food nad drop a little in the mouth if the cat takes it the keep doing that until he/she stops. Then offer a little amount on a papertowel or in a bowl. If the cat doesn't take it then you will have to force feed the cat. It needs the nutrition until you can get to a vet. open the mouth with thumb and index finger from above and stick dropper or syringe in the side of the mouth squirt some in and hold head up gently until he/she starts to swallow. You can try to also feed kitten formula (milk) in a bowl. You should see a vet for testing. My cat lived until 22 years old so you might be able to fix what is wrong with antibiotic and medication for treatment. good luck

Thank you so much, it's great advice. But it's too late... We took her to a vet yesterday and found out that she had a tumor in her intestines the size of a tennisball. Her body was too weak for the operation and wouldn't have survived it. There was nothing else to do so sadly we had to put her out. I'm sure you would know that losing a pet is terrible, especially if you've had them for that long... But thank you so much for caring! I really do appreciate it
