Our 5 year old Flamepoint Himalayan, Desi, has food and environmental allergies. He's had the extensive blood test that revealed several foods he's allergic to and we've had an awful time finding food that he'll eat that doesn't contain the 9 allergic foods. Is there a gravy type substance out there that does NOT contain corn/cornstarch that we can drizzle on his food to make it more appealing? Luci (Persian) is his sibling and she's eating the same foods he is, however, we slip her food he cannot eat when he's asleep and doesn't hear the can open. I've looked at pet food stores for gravy but cannot find any without cornstarch. The gravy foods he's always liked but can't give them to him anymore now that we know he's allergic to corn. Thank you!

Why don't you make your own gravy? You can use any meat drippings, & substitute rice flour for wheat flour (assuming she's not allergic to rice). Basically, all you do is put the meat drippings/juice on simmer, make a paste of whatever thickener you want to use, & stir it in very slowly in small amounts to avoid lumps.

Thanks for your reply. Desi is allergic to beef (fish, venison, potatoes, corn and several other items) but I could make gravy from chicken drippings. All the canned gravy foods have cornstarch in them and that's been a problem. Other cat Luci will eat some dry food but she'd rather canned with gravy. She will "bury" any canned food without gravy in it and won't eat it. I know, they say if you provide only one food they'll eventually eat, but she's lost weight from not eating what we've tried to give her so we're trying to come up with alternative gravy they can both eat. Appreciate your suggestion - honestly, I hadn't thought about making it myself.
