My Husband and I have two VERY wonderful cats. The oldest one "Red" (4yrs) we rescued from a pet store being closed down. The younger one "Sophie" (10mos) was adopted from the pound. We were wondering if there were any websites or experts that we can send a picture or take our cats there and determine a main breed. I know there are a lot of books and sites that tell you what each breed is supposed to look like and I know there are a lot of variations to these "specifications." We suspect that the oldest is Siberian and the youngest possible Chartreux. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kmcook! ? Congratulations on Rescuing 'Sophie' from the pound & 'Red' from the pet store which was closing!! ?:) As for a website with Cat Breed Standards (descriptions). ?Simply go to: ?www.CATFANCIERS.com ? ?Now with the Google search engine, it brought up the "Results Page" with the link showing: Cat Fanciers: Feline Vet Medicine. ?Don't worry, click there. Scroll to the bottom of the page which appears, click on the "Fanciers" tab at the bottom. The Cat Fanciers website page appears, then scroll down to the topic you are interested in: Cat Breed Descriptions. Cat Fanciers.com website is a group of cat breeders, pedigreed exhibitors, show judges, veterinarians & other cat lovers. ?After clicking on the link, the page which appeared was Feline Vet Medicine. ? Another excellent site is: ?CFAINC.com ? ?This is the Cat Fanciers Assn., Inc. website. ? ? ? Another excellent site is: ?ANYPET.com ? ? This is a site of CFA & TICA ?(both cat associations) their cat breed standards, and catteries. ?TICA is: ?The Int'l Cat Assn. ?When their website appears, simply click on the "Cats" tab & the next page click on the letter of the breed you are interested in. Other sites which I have found that also show breed standards are: I-Love-Cats.com (then click on breed name); ? AAAPets.com ?(click on letter of the breed); ? ? ABCPets.com ? (click on "cat breeds", then click on the letter of the breed); PussCats.com (click on breed name); Yahoo directory also has Cat Breed Standards (descriptions) by typing in your "search engine" window: ?Yahoo Cat Breeds. ?The first link on the results page will lead you to an excellent Cat Breed Standard directory. I used to show a Somali, Cornish Rex & a Persian. ?They are all over The Rainbow Bridge now. ?I hope that I have helped you out with your question. Aquila
