Hie my name is Exene, Im 15 and my mom and I took in a stary about 4 months ago. she was very small so im guessing she is about 4 months old since this is her first heat cycle. she has already begun a series of shots and is perfectly healthy, only we waited a bit too long to spay her. She is being spayed soon.

However, she is in a great deal of discomfort at the moment, and petting her seems to be only a temporary comfort to her. then she gets agitated and runs away. She meows for hours on end. Please tell me if there is ANYTHING i can do to make her a bit more relaxed???

She is not in discomfort, she is in heat. Yowling is the way the females call for the males to come and breed with them. They will roll on the floor, making awful noises ~ I suppose it could be interpreted as discomfort, but it's not. The only thing that will stop it is spaying or breeding. I highly reccomend spaying asap - do not let her get out of the house!

If she's old enough to be in heat, she's old enough to be spayed. Make an appointment immediately and let the vet know if she's still in heat.

You don't need a batch of kittens.
