Last December, I adopted a 4 year old cat from the shelter. She was an absolute sweetheart in the shelter and is the same way at times in her new home. She was a rescued cat who came from a house with 10 other cats. She's a great cat, but she hides under my bed all the time! She has started slowly to come out and see us around the house, and she loves to jump up on my bed and cuddle with me when the door is closed, but any movement sends her scurrying for cover under my bed. In September, I'm moving to a new house and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do after the move to make her more accustomed to people (and sounds, movement, the slightest breeze). I love her to death, but my intention was never to have her live entirely in my room! I want her to enjoy the whole house, not to mention eat and use the litter box in a place that isn't 10 feet from my bed! Please, any help would be great!

Have you tried using food to get her to come out.

Oh, she comes out plenty to eat and hang out with me in my room. She just runs under my bed or under a couch if there is movement or noises anywhere in the house. She eats (A LOT!) and everything, I'd just like her to use the rest of the house and not be so scared all the time.
