Hi there! We got our cat, Mushu, in January while I was unemployed. He quickly became extremely attached to me and got to the point where he can't be happy just being petted or laying in my lap. He feels as though he HAS to be held and cuddled up to my face ALL THE TIME. He will even go so far as to lunge at me as I walk by so that I HAVE to hold him. He seems to feel as if it is still never ever enough. Even when I cuddle him tightly he is constantly trying to get closer even though its impossible to. I try to just keep him on my lap but he fights and struggles and pushes himself up to my neck. He wants all of my attention all the time.
Our problem started after I got a job and started being away from home almost 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. He can't try to get cuddled all day anymore and has started to urinate on all of our clothes blankets rugs and closets. Does anyone know how to break him of this habit??? I know in most cases more attention when I'm home would solve it but he can't get enough so I really don't know what to do!

Free run of the house is for good boys who use the litter box, not bad boys who pee all over the place.
When you are going to leave the house, take his food and water bowls and his litter box and put them in a small room. A powder room is ideal for this purpose, or a bathroom.
Be sure there are no area rugs or towels in the room and none of your clothes of course. Essentially remove anything he can claw, chew or pee on.
Put him in the room.
Shut the door.
The end.
Now his worst case scenario is he pees the floor, but I'm betting he'll use the box.
If you want to toss a toy in there for him, try it. He may become bored enough to play with it, and that will be the beginning of this spoiled brat learning how to entertain himself.
Don't feel guilty. He'll be fine as long as he has food, water and litter box access and he lost his freedom when he squirted on your clothes.
If he is all over you and you don't want him to be, it's OK to put him in the powder room for awhile. He has to learn that you aren't the pet, he is. You got him for your enjoyment, not so you could entertain and cater to him.
Good luck, it's hard to take control at first but keep at it and he will learn.
