lst year our family lost gizzy our 4 year boy cat, i don't know what he died of but i found him in the kitchen floor withh foam coming out of his mouth trying to breathe, before i could get him to the vet, he died him my arms, our family still mourns his death and his passing. we still have 2-- 5 year old girl cats, tin tin and ally. tin tin was like gizzy's wife, they always laid together you know best friends. she hasn't been able to leave me since his death over a year ago. she follows to bathroom everywhere, she is mean to ally, she is reclusive on my pillow most of her days and nights and wants to snuggle up under my neck when i sleep. i wanted to get two baby kittens for the girls, but my oldest son believes it will isolate tintin even more. first i need to help her and us move along from gizzy's death and it's so hard. he always slept under my blanlet next to tintin. my boys always had a dog, because gizzy chased dogs and acted like a dog all the time. he fetched and everything. he could open all of our doors and even go outside by himself and let the girls with him we had special pull handles put in for him because he big and strong. he always called me mom. i can't believe i crying so hard to a stranger. tintin is rubbing on my head and face. poor ally gets so little attention, i force tintin away so i can hold ally and rub her belly, she loves her belly rubbed. they both like to smell everything i cook, i will just walk into the kitchen and they will come from anywhere to meow so i will let them smell everything i am going prepare, yes even the pots. i gave away my hearth sofa that gizzy i took a nap on everyday, because i missed him. he affected our lives so deeply, i never knew having animals would be this painful and joyful all at the same time. i never wanted any becuase i was afraid of getting attached. the suffering doesn't really end. please help me with my girls, please tammy

m sorry it took so long for me to find this.
Tammy, I'm very sorry about Gizzy. I know exactly how you feel, I've had cats for over 30 years & they affect me the same way. You don't have to worry, we all understand this.
Tin Tin is really missing Gizzy, & is staying with you because of her loneliness - since she doesn't like Ally much (apparently). Snuggling up to you is very common with cats who want attention.
Is Tin Tin eating well, & is she healthy? Is it mainly that she just has attached herself to you & is really needy, but other than that, she's healthy? If she's eating right & all, then she's not depressed, only lonesome. If so, then she's adapted as much as she can to not having a cat friend. So Gizzy does need to get a new interest.
The kittens are a good idea. Your son isn't considering the fact that Gizzy is isolated as she is, & it really can't get any worse for her. Since your company isn't making everything better, the kittens may be the best idea.
Can someone else in the house pay more attention to Ally? And to Tin Tin? So it's all more fair?
Kittens will naturally want attention from the other cats, so it's likely one will attach itself to Gizzy (he may insist). If you get 2 kittens, then they'll be a kitten for both of them to play with - if Ally is interested.
Go onto http://www.Petfinder.com & find local pet adoption groups. Contact them & ask for 2 male kittens, littermates if possible, as young as possible, no older than 4 months - we want them to insist on attention from the other cats.
If you want cats that are dog-like, get what's called Tuxedo Cats. They're black cats with white trim. The white is on their paws, chest & sometimes their nose. Some Tuxedo cats only have white patches on their chests - sometimes very small patches. Tuxedo cats are very intelligent, very affectionate, & are a lot like dogs. They have body shapes that range from long & skinny to round-faced & solid. Also, any black cat is going to be very intelligent & more likely to be dog-like.
Gizzy will recognize that they're males, so she may be more interested. Don't get female kittens - there will be too many arguments when they grow up - actually female cats normally have more serious arguments than males.
So, go ahead & get the boy kittens. It's hard for anybody - cat or person - to stay depressed around a couple of kittens dashing across the floor at high speed.
