Budgie sleeping in bottom of cage

Hi have you ever heard of a budgie curled up sleeping at the bottom of the cage? I have had him for a couple of years now and he sleeps down the bottom of the cage. Sometimes i go in and he looks like he's dead because he is sound asleep. I didn't think birds liked being at the bottom of the cage he sometimes sleeps on his swing but not very often, why would he be doing this?

He may like standing on something flat I have perches and 1"x4" lumber fasted in my cage a bird doesn't spend all the time in a tree outside they are down on the ground running around to,there isn't anything wrong with your bird.

My Chirpy now sleeps on the ladder.
   
I've been talking to people with Cockatiels that sleep in their feed and water dish. Parrots seems to have their preferences on where they want to sleep.
