Hello as some know I have a Cockatoo, well her nails are so sharp..

I want to trim them but because the nails are black its hard to see where the blood in the nail is.

Should I get it done by an experienced person or do I do it?

Do I bye a nail trimmer?

No you should not trim them, nor should you get an expert to trim them. birds nails can be sharp but to trim them just for this reason is not a good thing to do. Natural perches of various sizes will keep the nails trim. IF the nails are over grown, not sharp then you need an avian vet or specialist to trim them. trimming should NOT become a habit.

Give your bird plenty of things to keep his nails trim, wear a thick long sleeve shirt so that nail don't dig in so much.

As another option, again this is not something you should do periodically, you can file the nails just enough so they're aren't needle sharp but do NOT file them so they're completely blunt. They do still need the nails for grip.
