Ear Mites And Infections In Rabbits

Hi, I have just gone out to feed my rabbits and noticed that one of them has a very hard ear. I took him out, only to find that the ear was full of hard brown stuff. I have tired to clean out the ears, but they are so hard and full with this stuff, and both ears are very red and there is a little bleeding.

Signs of ear infection in rabbits is very often due to an ear mite infestation. Since there is also a little bleeding in your rabbit’s ear, this would seem to be the case. Your vet will need to prescribe treatment for mites; and probably also treatment for an ear infection either simultaniously or as a follow up treatment. Please keep in mind that your rabbit’s ears should not be allowed to get into this bad state without prior observation. You need to be continually check your rabbit for signs of illness.
